
Tuesday morning a Gray Kingbird was spotted near the entrance to the plant about 9:30, and again about 3. Richard L. Becker of Jacksonville, visiting with his wife Joan and friends Eileen and Sue from New York, supplied this pic. They also noted more than a dozen Wilson's Snipe during their time at the Wetlands.
Gray Kingbirds are unusual birds to find in this part of Florida in the winter, and can easily be mistaken for a Northern Shrike or a Northern Mockingbird from a distance - all three are similarly sized, mostly gray and white birds. This one was initially spotted shortly before the Space Coast Birding Festival in late January.
